The festival wants you to explore the far flung reaches of your imagination with over 100 jaw-dropping performances, from live comedy, music and theatre to walks, talks and interactive installations – all set across three sustainably powered stages. 

This year they have announced that the theme is ‘heroes’. Celebrating superheroes, cult heroes, unlikely heroes, heroes of the animal world, Greek gods, eco-warriors and – of course – scientific heroes like the inspirational Albert Einstein himself! So get your cape on, wear your pants over your trousers and come and be a hero in Einstein’s Garden.

Hormone Harmony - Meet the gods and heroes of Ancient Greece and discover how hormones affect our lives in an interactive performance supported by The Physiological Society. 

Ugly Animal Preservation Society - Superb stand-up comedy with a conservational twist as a terrific line-up of top comedians each champion one of Mother Nature’s unsung heroes! 

Cracking the Code - The Genetics of Superheroes - What are real mutants like? Could genetics make us superhuman? Biologist and TV presenter Simon Watt investigates the science behind superheroes. 

Mimina: For All Mankind - Witness the pioneering heroes of space as you’ve never seen them before with an atmospheric re-scoring of dramatic 1960s Apollo moon mission footage. 

After Hours at the Pole Star Club - Experience some truly cosmic storytelling from Christine Watkins, the universe-mapping artist Maria Hayes and vocal violinist extraordinaire Sianed Jones. 

Zombie Science - Join Theoretical Zombiologist Doctor Austin for a spoof multimedia tutorial exploring the real science behind a gruesome Zombie epidemic. 

Science Showoff - This anarchic science cabaret sees the UK’s brainiest performers attempt to blow your mind before the Showometer counts down and they get kicked off the stage. 

Being 747 present The Evolution of Science pt 2: ‘THE INVISIBLE STUFF’ - The intrepid Yorkshire “EduPop’ trio continue their ambitious attempt to map the history of science through the medium of jaunty rock music.
