This year’s Cornbury Festival is set to be the biggest and best yet, now in its second year at ‘The Great Tew’ estate in the heart of Oxfordshire, Cornbury has had a tradition of mixing the best from the past with the best of the present and this year is no exception.
Friday see’s James Morrison headline the Pleasant Valley Stage supported by folk / rock stalwarts The Waterboys, pop siren Pixie Lott also plays. Over on the Songbird Stage is 80’s sensation Alison Moyet and Welsh songstress Charlotte Church.
Saturday has the legend that is Elvis Costello headlining in what is sure to be a trip down memory lane covering hits from the 70’s through to the present day. One of the hottest girl bands around at the moment Stooshe make an appearance on the main stage, whilst over on the second stage super singer songwriter Newton Faulkner heads up a stellar line up which includes Hugh Laurie and his copper bottom band – one set not to be missed.
Sunday has just as strong line up as the previous days, Jools Holland and his Rhythm and Blues Orchestra will close the festival in their own unique style, Will Young has the pleasure of warming up the crowd for the headliners. Blues band 9 Below Zero also take up a Sunday afternoon slot which is sure to draw a huge crowd. Steve Winwood plays the second stage and with over 40 years in the music business he is sure to play something for everyone, Bluegrass sensations Police Dog Hogan also make an appearance on Sunday.
Cornbury is not just about the music, there is literary something for everyone, Children’s activities go on all day, and there is the Absolute Comedy Emporium if you fancy a laugh with some of the UK’s best comedians.
