19th Jul 2014 Hatfield House, Hatfield, Hertfordshire, AL9 5NQ, United Kingdom |
Tickets for adults (without camping) from £33.00 |
Folk by the Oak taking place at Hatfield House in Hertfordshire on the 20th July is a festival of folk's finest acts gathered together in beautiful leafy parkland for one uplifting summer day of music.
It's a relaxed sort of affair; the organisers are happy for you to bring your own food and drink along, and it’s a comfy leafy site with one main stage and now the firmly established Acorn Stage so you can pick a grassy spot for the day and kick back.
It’s not just the Acorn Stage which is growing this year – Folk by the Oak have expanded the children’s section to include a variety of new activities including a Mud Kitchen, run by outdoor learning specialists, Muddy Faces (muddyfaces.co.uk), plus all their regular children’s entertainments and activities such as circus skills, archery, storytelling and craft activities that have been so popular with families at previous Folk by the Oak festivals.
Artists booked to appear include: Richard Thompson, Seth Lakeman, Kathryn Tickell and The Side, The Elizabethan Session, and Josienne Clarke & Ben Walker.
Also joining the line-up is Brit Award winner Beth Orton. Known for her “folktronica” sound, which mixes elements of folk and electronica, Beth was initially recognised for her collaborations with William Orbit and the Chemical Brothers in the mid-1990s. With the release of the albums Central Reservation (1999) and the 2002 UK top 10 album Daybreaker, Beth developed a devoted fan base, many of whom will be delighted with this rare opportunity to see her at a UK festival this summer.
