The Celtic Connections 2014 Festival Club has been relocated to Walkabout on Renfield Street. It was originally billed to be held in the The Vic within the Glasgow School of Art but the refurbishment of this venue is now not going to be completed in time.

A spokesperson for the Glasgow School of Art, said: “The refurbishment of The Vic is part of the GSA’s new Reid Building, which is currently nearing completion. The whole development has one completion date, but the GSA had hoped it might be possible to get sign off for The Vic ahead of schedule. Every effort has been made, but in the end it has not been possible to do this. Consequently, the December 2013 and January 2014 original programme of events will not now be taking place as initially planned. This includes the Celtic Connections Festival Club events scheduled for mid to late January 2014.”

Donald Shaw, Artistic Director for Celtic Connections, said: “It is unfortunate that The Vic will not be ready in time for next year’s festival but it is fantastic that we have been able to secure Walkabout as a replacement venue. In 2014 we also have the return of the ever-popular Late Night Sessions which will take place in the National Piping Centre and will offer a slightly more relaxed alternative to the Festival Club.

“Although this relocation was outwith the festival’s control we do apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused.”

All tickets already purchased for the festival club will still be valid for the new venue, however if patrons have any questions about their booking the festival encourage them to contact the box office on 0141 353 8000.

Celtic Connections 2014 takes place at Various Venues, Glasgow between Thu 16th January to Sun 2nd February 2014. More information and ticket links here.
