“We’re all going on a Summer Holiday”.…… the old fashioned holiday camp vibe is live and well at Camp Bestival. Set in surely one of the most unique locations, the grounds of Lulworth Castle, Dorset. Complete with their very own Blue Coats, you are sure to have a fun filled, family weekend.

There is something on offer, quite literally, for all the family, new bands, old bands, DJs, dinosaurs, comedy, spoken word, extreme sports, fancy dress and so much more. Whatever it is that you like, it’s sure to be at Camp Bestival.

Camp Bestival always has a keen eye on what’s important for a family friendly festival, with Erth’s Dinosaur Zoo and Horrible Histories Barmy Briton Live Show joining Camp Bestival regulars Mr Tumble and Dick and Dom - who never fail to work the little-uns (and a whole lot of big-uns) into a frenzy. But that’s not the end of the entertainment for the kids, the Kids Field offers kids theatre, workshops, bouncy castle, soft play, dressing up and is home to the Saturday fancy dress parade. This year’s theme gives everyone the chance to dress as daft as they care from anywhere “Around the World”.

For older children there is the welcome return of the Free sports Park, featuring displays of mountain bikes, BMX, Skate and Parkour. It’s not just about watching, the park is open at times across the weekend for the next Tony Hawkes to show off some tricks.

In2Action has been added to the list of activities on offer this year, with mini-crossbow, climbing, Aeroballing and Body Zorbing. Enough to keep even the moodiest of teenagers happy.

As always Camp Bestival has a fantastic varied musical line-up with headliners this year Richard Hawley, The Levellers and Labrynth, but that only begins to scratch the surface of who’s on. There’s Billy Bragg, Mikill Pane, Grand Master Flash, The Polyphonic Spree, DJ Yoda Featuring the Tootsie Rollers, Sasha, Camp Bestival favourites The Cuban Brothers, and the crowd rousing Proclaimers, to name but a few of the wide array of acts and DJs performing across the three stages.

But if loud music or gravity defying sports aren’t your thing, then there’s the Guardian Literary Institute with its plethora of poets, authors and talks, or possibly a spot of comedy with Alan Davis who will be performing in the Big Top. And over the weekend Pig Big’s Ballroom will be home to many other great comedy acts too.

Of course you’ll need feeding whilst you’re doing all this, but you won’t find your regular festival greasy burger van here. There’s Chapati Man (a roaring success last year), Flaming Cactus, the Farmer’s Market, the Young British Foodies – with a broad range of delights – and that’ll just keep you fed for your first day!

The weekend’s highlight are too many to do them all justice here, without keeping you reading for days, but be assured you can spend your day however you care – listen to bands or throw yourself around the numerous activities going on, or catch some comedy and have a three course meal after watching some joisting! There really is more than enough to keep the most jaded of festival goers entertained.
