Cambridge Folk Festival released a further tranche of artists for this years festival:
The Waterboys, with their hugely influential blend of Celtic folk, gospel, country and rock; Grammy Award winning country chanteuse Shelby Lynne; leading Cajun and Zydeco band BeauSoleil avec Michael Doucet; acclaimed US singer-songwriter and Band of Joy member Patty Griffin; English folk legends Martin Carthy & Dave Swarbrick, pioneers since their first collaborations in the 1960s who remain as innovative and inspirational today; Scottish Folk Band of the Year 2012 Breabach; children’s concert by John Hegley, one of the country’s most innovative comic poets; Korrontzi, reinterpreting traditional tunes and introducing a new form of the Basque region sound; Sketch, spearheading a radical new wave of Celtic-based dancefloor sounds; State Of The Union, combining the talents of bluesy Americana stalwart Brooks Williams and esteemed British singer-songwriter Boo Hewerdine; kids’ ceilidh from English String Band, bringing together some of the country’s best traditional string players; high energy folk, rock, bluegrass, Celtic rhythms and Delta from Rusty Shackle; funk, reggae, hiphop, thrashjazz and more from New Orleans inspired brass band The Brass Funkeys and Festival stalwart, musical comedian Peter Buckley Hill.
The Cambridge Folk Festival showcases both international headline artists and young, emerging talent across four different stages and continues to enjoy sell-out success year on year. Renowned for its unique parkland setting, great facilities and family friendliness, the Festival offers something for everyone with street theatre, music workshops and sessions, raucous ceilidhs, open stages, a youth area, internet café, kids’ ceilidh, storytelling, free creche, paddling pool and playground, real ale bars.
