As we enter Autumn, Bugged Out are ready to unleash a further set of acts for the second Weekender, set to take place in January 2013.
Newly confirmed is the ever forward thinking producer and Hinge Finger head honcho Joy Orbison, who has become a figurehead for the UK electronic underground thanks to his unique fusion of dubstep, UK garage, breakbeat and house. Despite being yet to release an album, Joy O continues to grow from strength to strength following his ground-breaking 2009 hit Hyph Mngo, thanks to a run of impressive 12-inches on Will Saul’s Aus label and his own Doldrums imprint.
Joining him will be Jackmaster, one sixth of the game-changing Glasgow-born label Numbers, who have been consistently responsible for putting out some of the biggest tracks over the past few years from the likes of Jamie XX, SBTRKT, Hudson Mohawke, Rustie and Mosca. Known for his unashamedly dance floor friendly sets and impeccable selection skills, no musical genre is exempt from his raucous up tempo amalgamations.
Also confirmed is Oneman, Numbers regular and Rinse FM resident. One of the original DJs to start blending UK Funky and two-step with dubstep, he pioneered a new bass heavy style and has since continued to join the dots between pretty much every strain of electronic music, expertly weaving together old and new, underground and mainstream into invigorating club-ready sets.
Also heading to Butlins will be newcomers Bicep, who have become as known for their 2012 essential track $tripper as they have for their blog which has developed a cult following and is widely treated as the first port of call for forgotten or hard-to-find disco. Expect sultry disco in low BPM with plenty of classic soul, groove and garage influences.
The final new addition, Disclosure, need little by way of introduction. Responsible for some of the hottest mixes and remixes in recent months, the brotherly duo have fast gained a reputation for bettering the original tracks with their inimitable brand of two step/garage and will be playing Live at 2013’s Weekender. Having signed to PMR Records, 2013 undoubtedly holds exciting great things for this year’s biggest breakout artists.

As with last year, Bugged Out! will be welcoming a host of club partners to help curate the Weekender. So far confirmed are Union, who will be returning for a second year, Urban Nerds, who over the past four years have risen in the ranks of underground clubbing to become one of London’s biggest bass brands and Krankbrother, whose penchant for hosting parties in unused and special locations such as rooftops, yachts and railway arches will see them take on a new distinctive location in the form of Butlins. Joining them will be Junk Department, whose forward-thinking musical policy, meticulous attention to detail and enthusiasm has seen them blaze a trail over the clubbing industry in recent years and Bristolian house club Just Jack who have gone from strength-to-strength from humble beginnings.
“The dance scene is pushing the boundaries like no other genre of late and the weekender will reflect and capture this.” – Bugged Out
Bugged Out is now in its 18th year making it one of the UK’s longest running club nights. Bugged Out! boasted LFO at their first night back in November 1994 and since then they’ve had everyone from Daft Punk, Green Velvet, The Chemical Brothers, Richie Hawtin, Tiga, Boys Noize and Carl Craig play at their nights. As well as running club nights in the UK and Europe, Bugged Out has become a major part of London’s Field Day festival and has also released acclaimed compilations – Erol Alkan releases Another Bugged Out Mix with them this September.
