BIMM Bristol has negotiated an exclusive music industry opportunity for students to take part in a brand new music festival, ArcTanGent, that is being held in Compton Martin (Somerset) Thu 29th to Sat 31st August 2013.

ArcTanGent Festival is aimed at music fans in the South West region and beyond. A  guitar based festival, that not only showcases some the of the most exciting talent around but also offers a real alternative to the bigger more commercial indie, pop and dance orientated festivals in and around the region.

Says ArcTanGent co-founder James Scarlett: “With ArcTanGent we wanted to take the festival template we’ve laid down with 2000trees and have an edgier line up with lots of post-rock and math-rock bands. BIMM Bristol students will have an opportunity to help out in a number of roles from artist liaison and stage management to event management. I already have some BIMM students helping with booking the line up and I’m even going to book bands from BIMM Bristol to perform at the festival.”

Mark Clayden (BIMM Bristol College Manager and founding member of Pitchshifter) adds “This is an incredible opportunity for our students to get involved with a groundbreaking festival that will provide an invaluable and unforgettable experience.”

BIMM Bristol students will get the opportunity to play live at ArcTanGent and will join the amazing line-up. Acts confirmed so far include:  Friday headliners 65daysofstatic, Saturday Headliners Fuck Buttons plus Future of the Left, And So I Watch You From Afar, Islet, Bo Ningen, Gallops, Turbowolf, Arcane Roots, Blacklisters, You Slut! and Talons.

They join the long list of acts already announced, including Three Trapped Tigers, Tall Ships, Rolo Tomassi, Maybeshewill, Johnny Foreigner, Castrovalva, Yndi Halda, This Town Needs Guns, That Fucking Tank, The Physics House Band, Among Brothers, Axes and Brontide.

Fellow organiser Goc O’Callaghan adds: “For BIMM Bristol students to be involved with bands of this caliber, just a short distance from where they are studying, is a giant stepping stone into the music industry, providing an invaluable experience that may otherwise have been difficult to secure.  By partnering with ArcTanGent, BIMM Bristol students will now have the opportunity to come back and be involved with us year on year, adding to their body of real music industry experience and ultimately putting them in a great place with potential employers and helping to secure future employment in this tough  industry.”

Tickets are priced at £59 and are on sale now here.
