The 3rd Lechlade Music Festival will welcome award winning authors and poets in a new area at the Festival. The 3 day festival, held at Riverside Park in Lechlade, runs from Friday 24th to Sunday 26th May over the bank holiday weekend.

Jill Hucklesby and KJ Wignall, both award-winning writers for young teens will be reading from their novels and taking part in a Q&A.

Jill’s novels major on adventure, friendship and the power of love.  Her four books feature girls and boys who face challenging situations in their lives, and find a way through. From the mystery thriller, ‘If I Could Fly’, narrated by a teenage girl on the run, to the race-against-time to rescue a horse in danger in ‘Samphire Song’.

Her latest book, ‘Little Lost Hedgehog’, for younger readers, is based on a true-life RSPCA rescue. “I’m very excited to have been invited to be one of the first authors to appear at The Lechlade Festival” says Jill.

KJ Wignall is the author of ‘The Mercian Trilogy’ – ‘Blood’, ‘Alchemy’ and ‘Death’.  The trilogy is a fantasy series for young teens about a boy vampire.  KJ, also the author of several adult thrillers and short stories, has been nominated for an Edgar in the US and for the CWA Short Story Dagger in the UK. All his work has attracted film interest and two of his novels are currently being developed in Hollywood.

With children 16 and under attending the music festival for free, organisers are ensuring there’s plenty do to for all ages.

Workshops taking place throughout the 3 day event include batik, face & body painting, poetry, belly dancing and ‘The Paint Lab’ – a free painting zone.  For adults, Somerset based poet Paul Tobin will be running poetry workshops on both Saturday and Sunday and there will be belly dancing workshops throughout the weekend.

With over 60 bands on 3 stages performing rock to reggae, ska to swing, punk to pirate ballads and everything else in between, Lechlade Festival promises to be a great family experience.  ‘Glamping’ in Yurts have been added to the camping area for 2013 and the new mini-food village offers a wide range of tempting choices.
