To say Annie Nightingale’s career as a radio DJ has been highly successful would be an understatement! She is probably best known for being Britain’s first female DJ on Radio 1 and is now the station’s longest serving presenter.  Her talents have even been recognised by The Queen who honoured her with an MBE in 2002, making Nightingale the only female DJ in the world to be honoured with this award.

Although she began a long career in broadcasting choosing her own music and championing dozens of artists who went onto achieve world wide successes, she also worked as solo presenter on BBC TV’s legendary series ‘The Old Grey Whistle Test’, which featured in the ‘100 Greatest British Television Programmes’ drawn up by the British Film Institute in 2000.

Last year Annie celebrated four decades of music broadcasting with an exhibition of her photos at the O2 in London as well as the BBC’s incredible celebrations of Annie’s 4 Decades at Radio 1.  Annie Nightingale: Decades Show will roll across the UK and Europe throughout this year and will be crashing through the gates of Henham Park for this year’s Latitude festival.
