With festival sales at an all-time low and the weather as bad as we can remember Abattoir Blues Records are back hosting a 2 day festival over the bank holiday weekend Saturday 24th August & Sunday 25th 2013 at Northern Quarter favourite The Castle Hotel.
August bank holiday is synonymous with overpriced festivals such as Leeds and Reading and they are offering a range of over 24 talented acts for £3.50 a day. You can come and go as you please over the weekend and make the most of your bank holiday whatever the weather.
Bands from the Abattoir Blues Label will be playing as well as a whole host of new and exciting blues inspired acts some even flying over from Germany to play the event.
After attending their first festival day, Ian Pennington of Now Then Manchester Magazine agrees that the pair have developed something special: “It’s the raw grit of the live show that makes the Blues what it is- and this festival captures it in abundance.”
Amelia Dean & David Brennan started Abattoir Blues in 2011 and have already hosted events at The Gas lamp, The Marble Arch and Gulliver’s. The Abattoir Blues Team is a close knit collective of talented musicians and artists. We are passionate about discovering and nurturing new talent in the Blues scene and our D.I.Y approach has brought a lot of really great artists in. Manchester is a musical city. There’s a real appetite for good live music here.
After the launch of Abattoir Blues Records in April the artists on the label will be releasing a compilation vinyl funded by kickstarter and also will be going on tour later this year.
