6 Music have announced that the second 6 Music Festival 2015 will take place on Tyneside, with gigs across three nights from Friday 20 February to Sunday 22 February at The 02 Academy Newcastle (Friday) and The Sage Gateshead (Saturday and Sunday) with an incredible line-up of artists. The first acts confirmed so far include: The War On Drugs (BRIT 2015 nominees, whose 2014 album, Lost In The Dream, was 6 Music’s Album Of The Year), Young Fathers (Mercury 2014 winners), Maximo Park, Hot Chip (performing exclusive brand new material for the first time), Neneh Cherry, Jon Hopkins, Interpol, Sleater-Kinney (this will be their first UK performance in almost ten years), Ibibio Sound Machine, Ghost Poet (performing brand new material), Villagers (performing exclusive brand new material for the first time), Father John Misty, Kate Tempest (Mercury Prize 2014 nominee) and Eliza Carthy performing together in an exclusive 6 Music collaboration, The Fall , Jungle (Mercury Prize 2014 nominees), Lonelady, The Charlatans (performing exclusive brand new material), Wire, Public Service Broadcasting, Gruff Rhys, Royal Blood (Mercury Prize 2014 and BRIT 2015 nominees), Jamie T, King Creosote, The Cribs (performing brand new material), Glass Animals, Gaz Coombes, The Maccabees & Simian Mobile Disco .

Additionally, there will be a 6 Music Festival by Day (which will be ticketed separately to the night-time events) in venues in The Ouseburn and Stephenson Quarter areas of the city, on Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 February, 11am-6pm. The full line up of the 6 Music Festival by Day will be announced on 6 Music on Tuesday 3 February.

Additionally, on Saturday 21 February at The Sage Gateshead Plus, 6 Music’s funk and soul show presenter Craig Charles will host a Northern Soul Night (from 5-10.30pm) with Richard Searling and Stuart Maconie and further DJs to be announced soon. And on Sunday 22 February, there will be DJ sets (from 5-10.30pm), hosted by 6 Music presenter Nemone, with Richy Ahmed, Daniel Avery, 6 Mix residents Rob da Bank and DJ Yoda, and others to be announced soon.

Tickets for each night of the festival will go on sale at 10 am across three consecutive days.

Tickets for Saturday 21 February on sale on Saturday 31 January (priced £35 (plus booking fee, P&P)

Tickets for Sunday 22 February on sale on Sunday 1 February (priced £35 (plus booking fee, P&P)

6 Music Festival by Day

The 6 Music Festival is in two parts - the 6 Music Festival by Night at The 02 Academy Newcastle at The Sage, and the 6 Music Festival by Day. The 6 Music Festival by Day is a separately ticketed free event from 11am to 6pm on Saturday 21 February in The Ouseburn area of Newcastle – at the Cluny 1, Cluny 2, The Cumberland Arms, and The Star and Shadow. And on Sunday 22 February at The Boiler Shop in the Stephenson Quarter area of Newcastle.

Tickets for the 6 Music Festival by Day are free and will be allocated via an audience ballot from 10am on Tuesday 3 February (closing 8pm on Sunday 8 February). Please note - tickets to the events at The 02 Academy Newcastle and The Sage Gateshead do not give access to the 6 Music Festival by Day and vice versa. The events are ticketed separately.
