100 acts added to The Great Escape

The UK's leading festival The Great Escape has announced a further 100 artists from across the globe who will be performing in Brighton at TGE, including: Mahalia, Poppy Ajudha, Bloxx, Phoebe Bridgers, and Kyary Pamyu Pamyu.  While Banglez and Fredo are set to join Mist + Mostack at the Spotlight Dome Show.

This year will see the festival partnering with Download Festival, who will be curating their own stage..

Andy Copping, Live Nation’s President for UK Touring and festival booker for Download Festival said:

“Having a stage at The Great Escape is a no brainer. In the past few years I’ve been bowled over by some of the rock, metal and punk bands across the world that I’ve seen at TGE and Marmozets, The Struts, The Temperance Movement, Creeper, Milk Teeth, Rolo Tomassi and Zeal & Ardor who have been part of The Great Escape will be playing Donnington Park this summer. To be able to curate our own stage is very exciting.”

Also partnering with the festival is Gilles Peterson’s Future Bubblers.  The Future Bubblers line-up includes; alternative singer-songwriter Kid Katharsis, singer Yazmin Lacey with her rich soulful voice, Neo soul-influenced Mali Hayes, jazz-based producer Broadstrokes, Brighton’s own Elsa Hewitt, singer and MC Skinny Pelembe and Sheffield’s warped RnB star Nashe xx.

Gilles Peterson said:

Future Bubblers is about identifying and developing some of the most exciting, left-field, genre blurring music from across the country. We’ve been working with these artists over the past 2 years and this opportunity to work with a festival as established as The Great Escape, to be in the mix of the rest of the UK industry, and to show the world what they’re made of, is so timely for these Bubblers. This will be an important spring board for all the future great things to come for them.”

The Great Escape takes place from Thursday 17th - Saturday 19th May 2018 at various venues throughout Brighton.  With over 400 bands playing in 30 venues over 3 days The Great Escape is the ideal festival to see emerging talent from around the world. In addition to pre-publicised performances, impromptu street gigs spring up all over town. In addition to the music there are 3 days of seminars where the movers and shakers of the industry host debates and workshops.

Running in parallel with The Great Escape is The Alternative Escape which hosts numerous club nights, label parties, industry showcases, unique collaborations and outdoor gigs all add to the festivities.
