Korean culture comes to the UK with the "MBC Korean Cultural Festival in London 2012" in celebration of the 2012 London Olympics, showcasing the very best K-Pop artists and shining a spotlight on Korean tradition.

Organisers have announed that tickets for the inaugural "MBC Korean Culture Festival in London 2012" have now sold out. Celebrating both the old and the new, a taste of Korean culture comes to the UK presented by Korea's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade and Ministry of Culture, Sports & Tourism alongside MBC, Korea's oldest and leading broadcasting corporation. Three of Korea's biggest K-Pop artists, including 4MINUTE, EXO-K and Nazaro, plus leading culture icons Queen and critically-acclaimed hanbok designer Park Sul-Nvero will take to the stage on Saturday, 23rd June at London's indigO2, part of The O2 complex for a night of cutting edge contemporary music, traditional costume and an exhilirating blend of traditional music and classical composition.

As the “Korean Wave” (Hallyu) continues to explode across the West, London’s acclaimed indigO2 venue is preparing to open its doors in celebration of Korea's dynamic contemporary pop culture and elegant traditional heritage. 4MINUTE, the chart-topping, K-POP, five-piece, girl-band will headline a line-up that also features South Korean-Chinese boy band EXO-K and eccentric pop/rock duo Narazo plus highlights from Korean’s rich culture to create a fusion of fashion, music and performance. Hosted by Korea’s leading and oldest broadcasting corporation, MBC, the “MBC Korean Cultural Festival in London 2012” will host an evening celebrating Korea’s superb and eclectic culture from past to present.  

Since forming in 2009, 4MINUTE have released a string of hits such as ‘Muzik’ and “Heart to Heart” and built a huge following that stretches from the East to the West.  EXO-K is arguably the most exciting South Korean boy band to emerge onto the scene in recent years. Since releasing their successful debut single “Mama” in April the band have attracted thousands of fans who flock to stadiums throughout Korea and MBC are delighted they will be joining the Korean Cultural Festival in London 2012. 

Norazo is a male duo renowned for their eccentric stage, costume and lyrics and make up the third major K-Pop artist to descend on London this June. Having been recently voted eighth in American music magazine SPIN's '21 Greatest K-Pop Songs' polls for their single “Curry”, Norazo will entertain the crowds with their surprising lyrics and original live performance. Expect the unexpected. 

Adding a different dimension to the programme and highlighting the elegance and diversity of Korean culture, Park Sul-Nvero will present a breathtaking fashion show of Korea's colourful traditional royal costumes. Park is an established hanbok (Korean traditional costume) designer, favoured by celebrities, and hosts highly publicised fashion shows every year in order to promote the beauty of hanbok. Her show promises to be exceptional and a perfect addition to the festivities. 

Further celebrating Korea’s cultural heritage, QUEEN will be presenting a completely unique harmony of music combining traditional, Korean melodies with classical composition. Their spectacular stage performance includes a variety of customary instruments such as haegum, daegum, electric violin and gayagum as well as vocals performing traditional narrative song. Unique in style and composition, QUEEN is an exciting addition to the programme. The final confirmed act for the evening will be K-POP cover dance Europe champion team who bring their skilled and award winning entertainment to the "MBC Korean Cultural Festival in London 2012". 

MBC, the major Korean broadcasting corporation hosts "MBC Korean Cultural Festival in London 2012" in celebration of the 2012 London Olympics. This one-off cultural performance is sponsored by Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade / Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. It will highlight the elegance and dynamics of Korean culture, combining Korean traditional culture and K-POP and gives audiences the opportunity to see an eclectic collaboration of colourful traditional Korean royal costumes fashion show, modernized traditional music stage with the contemporary K-POP performance.
