Official statement from their website.
As previously announced, it is with much regret and a heavy heart that we must announce Summer Saturnalia festival scheduled at Funkirk Estate, Skipton on the 19th-21st of July is cancelled.
Although run on a non-profit basis by a team of volunteers, the festival is a business with responsibilities to our customers and suppliers. In our analysis of June ticket sales it had become clear that were we to continue we would, in all probability, be unable to fulfil our commitments.
There is a large extended network of volunteers who have worked tirelessly on this and previous events whom we wish to thank and express our sincere regret that the event they have worked so hard on cannot be realised.
Since our initial announcement many of you have made contact through social media and we are humbled and thankful for the overwhelmingly supportive messages we have received.
We owe a big thank you to everyone who has supported the festival in previous years and those holding tickets for this year’s event - we are very sorry to have to disappoint you.
There are two options available to ticket holders:-
- Option 1: Exchange Summer Saturnalia ticket for Beacons 2013 ticket
Our friends at Beacons Festival have kindly stepped in to help out and we are able to exchange your Summer Saturnalia weekend ticket for a Beacons festival 2013 weekend ticket. It takes place in the same location on the 16th-18th of August and the lineup is incredible this year with the likes of Bonobo, Ben UFO, SBTRKT, Gold Panda, Floating Points, James Holden, Machinedrum, Bondax, John Talbot and so many more.
If you wish to participate in this ticket exchange you must register your details before Friday the 19th of July - Option 2: A partial refund of 35% to be paid by BACS transfer
Due to costs that have already been incurred the funds are not available to offer a full refund. We recognise that those of you holding tickets believed in and supported Summer Saturnalia, some of you for many years, and we sincerely apologise that you have been let down.
Summer Saturnalia was run by an unpaid volunteer team who donated their time, expertise, and in some instances their own money to support the project. We recognise that nobody asked us to do this, and we are not seeking your sympathy - given the circumstances of us only being able to offer a partial refund we felt it necessary to clarify that neither Summer Saturnalia nor any of our partner organisations have profited from this or any previous events.
Guestlist places and free tickets (through competitions, giveaways etc.) have no cash value. We apologise to partner organisations who have run competitions and to those who won them.
