Jack Bruce, Terry Reid and Mud Morganfield Confirmed

plus Curved Air, Oli Brown Band, Hobo Jones & The Junkyard Dogs and Miranda Versus The Crok

Rhythm Festival 2011 has added seminal Cream bassist, vocalist and songwriter JACK BRUCE to its Saturday line-up. Cult singer TERRY REID joins acts already announced (including Toots & The Maytals and Steve Cropper & The Animals) on Sunday; whilst US Blues legend MUD MORGANFIELD (son and musical heir of the legendary Muddy Waters) will appear with his Dirty Aces on Friday.

Other acts confirmed today include psychedelic rockers Curved Air (Saturday) and firm festival favourites Hobo Jones & The Junkyard Dogs (Sunday). Fast-rising young blues star Oli Brown and hotly-tipped Leeds acoustic-indie act Miranda Versus The Crok are also booked to appear over the weekend (days tbc).

Dozens more acts are set to be announced for the four music stages, including several further headliners and the entire comedy line-up.

STAGE TRIBUTES

To celebrate the change of site and dates, the Rhythm Festival stages will be named after prominent local figures, including Biggleswade’s own Charles Penrose (of “Laughing Policeman” fame) and Dan Albone (inventor of the modern tractor); as well as Bedford-born John Le Mesurier, star of countless  films but best known for the part of Sergeant Wilson in “Dad’s Army”. The local community will be asked to nominate other local worthies to have the remaining stages named in their honour. Further details to follow.
