Festivals For All caught up with Jack Walsh for a chat about Lounge On The Farm

If you could book any performer dead or alive to play at LOUNGE ON THE FARM who would it be?

Tough one...perhaps Gil Scott Heron seeing as its prescient!

Sum up LOTF in 1 sentence?

Beautiful boutique festival situated on a real life working farm...with lots of Cider

Do you have a special memory from previous LOTF festivals?

Either the XX blossoming live on stage into the Mercury Music Prize winning band in 2009, or watching Martha Reeves on her grand white piano. I’m sure this year’s memories will eclipse all esle though...

Do LOTF consider yourselves a foodie festival as well as a musical one?

Completely. You will never find a burger van or cheap chip hawker at Lounge on the Farm. We have everything from Kipper Baps to Smoked Pigeon and all the beef is raised directly from the cows on the farm.

Tell us about the You Say They Say competition?

It’s a pioneering competition that seeks to find the best new talent around Kent. You must have a Kent postcode to enter and the bands progress through a series of heats where the audience decides the  outcome. The three winners will get to open the mainstage each day of the festival, and further strengthens the grass roots community outreach of LOTF.

In addition to local talent and local food, are you also using local breweries’& comedy acts to attempt a happy medium for festival goers to celebrate Kent?

Shepherd Neame are the best local brewers about and they provide the booze on the farm. Our comedy lineup has always been a strong feature of the festival and this year is no different with Phil Kay, Sean Hughes, Holly Walsh and many more still tbc.

Tell us about the Cow Shed?

Perhaps the most unique raving space in the country! For three days the Cows have to find other accommodation whilst we load the shed full of Funktion One Speakers and a horde of ravers descend on the  place. This year is looking extra special with Annie Mac headlining the Friday and showcases from Urban Nerds and Hospital Records on Sunday

What is the 3 essential items for people to bring to your Festival?

You must always bring: a tent(obviously) sun cream (because it is always scorching) and a very open mind!

Is there anything else you can tell us about the Festival?

You need to get to Lounge on the Farm whilst it is still the fabulous festival secret that it is

Thanks Jack we're looking forward to it.
