Following a summer of festival appearances Inspiral Carpets have announced that they are performing their debut album ‘Life’ for the first time in its entirety, in March on a full UK tour. The album has been re-mastered and will be accompanied by the long awaited DVD version of their legendary G-Mex performance ‘21790’. ‘Life’ was released in 1990 and reached number 2 in the UK album charts.

Recently Inspiral Carpets released their first material in 15 years with single ‘You’re So Good For Me’.  March 2012 saw reinstated founder member, Stephen Holt tour the UK with the band for the first time in 24 years. In May the band were special guests on the Happy Mondays’ tour which was their first tour together with their original line up including a show at Manchester Arena.

Throughout 2012 the band continued to play live at several festivals over the summer culminating with a live televised performance at Old Trafford cricket ground in September during the England versus South Africa T/20 cricket match.

Apart from performing ‘Life’ in full expect a set which defined Inspiral Carpets as one of the most important British bands of their generation.

I remember Graham and myself crafting some of these songs in Clint’s practise room at The Mill near Oldham. The songs have stood the test of time and the album is seminal.

I recall debuting Sun Don’t Shine in a small underground club in Manchester where journalist John Robb told us we’d come of age. There are some great albums around at the moment and these are exciting times.

Clint Boon

I have great memories of us writing and recording Life. The culmination of the first 5 years of us making Inspiral music. Such an exciting time for us lot. The Life album is our most psychedelic and diverse work. Working class Oldham meets timeless garage pop.

Martyn Walsh

I’m looking forward to playing ‘Life’ in its entirety, as it evokes many fond memories.  The album was recorded in the creative whirlwind that was Madchester and it defined us as credible artists when it was released on Mute Records. Now, with all the positive feedback we’re receiving around our new material, releases and recent tours; it feels like the first time, second time around.

Craig Gill

I was young. We gigged, recorded, hung out at The Hacienda & went to Warehouse Parties. We made a legendary album and now for the first time we will deliver it in full.

Graham Lambert

Writing Life was a memorable time. We seemed to be playing either in Manchester or Sheffield Take Two club every Friday supporting either The Bodines or The Stone Roses. Life is trashy, sensitive, dark and mellow. We haven’t performed some of these songs since 1988. It will be The Real Thing.
