Fightstar announced an indefinite hiatus in 2010 following their triumphant but exhausting campaign for the album ‘Be Human’ but they have recently been back to the studio to re-work the track ‘Follow Me Into The Darkness’ for Jägermeister UK’s debut TV ad.
Jägermeister have worked with Fightstar for a number of years and in 2012, the iconic German herbal liqueur hosted the world’s coldest ever gig with frontman Charlie Simpson in Siberia which is now an official Guinness World Record.
By coincidence, Fightstar’s return to the studio to re-work the track for Jägermeister’s UK debut TV ad is exactly 10 years since the band went to the studio to work on their debut single “They Like You Better When You’re Dead”.
Fightstar said "We always strive to bring a strong cinematic quality to our music and "Follow me into the darkness" is a prime example of us creating film score music for films that only existed in our minds. It's been a pleasure to rework this track and find a visual home for it alongside this extraordinarily filmic and beautifully crafted ad.”
The TV ad will premiere on ITV1 during England’s friendly football match against Denmark on 5th March (approximately 20:45). Another coincidence! Jägermeister was the first brand in the world to introduce football shirt sponsorship when it appeared on the kit of German football league side Eintracht Braunschweig FC in 1973).
Jägermeister UK Group Marketing Manager, Nicole Goodwin, said: “We are delighted to have Fightstar on board for this project. This is the first time Jägermeister will feature on TV in the UK and so we wanted to create it in the true character of the brand, by using one of our long standing music partners.”
