Four days with around 21 live top country bands including camping for only £35 – it must be Rockfield in Wales!
The Rockfield Country Music festival is an annual 4-day event held over the first weekend of June. The festival features more than twenty country music bands and artists. As well as having country musicians from the UK, they readily have country acts from around the world, too. In 2014, they have three acts from Holland, one from Sweden, Ireland, Scotland, England and Wales.
The event has grown steadily year on year since the first festival in 2010 which attracted around 1000 people. In 2012, around 3600 people went through the gates. (The festival was cancelled in 2013 due to ill health.)
As well as great music, the Rockfield country music festival also provides much Wild West entertainment for all the family. A majority of the attendees are country music enthusiasts and wear western dress much of the time - especially in the evenings when there are western dress themes, such as Native American, Gamblers, Saloon Girls, Mexican. Daily events include the fast draw contests, rodeo bull machine, line dancing lessons, and Wild West re-enactment shows. Many trade stands are on site selling authentic western items such as cowboy hats and boots, leather wear, crinoline dresses, and accessories. Day tickets and weekend tickets are available. There is plenty of free parking and free camping for all ticket holders.
You can expect: DJ Pepper's Country Music Disco / Lawmen (Bristol) Wild West Re-Enactment / Fast Draw Contest / Horseshoe Throwing Contest / Line Dancing Lessons / Mechanical Rodeo Bull Machine / The Lamb National / Western Dress Contest / Trade Stands / Charity Raffle (Any profits from the Rockfield Festival go to the Victoria Eye Unit at Hereford County Hospital) / Licenced Bar / Food Stalls.
Artists booked to appear include John Rowdy, Kyotie, Sidewinder, Des Mondeo, Cowley Cowboys, Memphis Belle, Gary Quinn, Ridgeway, Backyard Burners, DNA & The Cellarboys, Blazing Zooz, Cole Jackson, and Too Rock For Country.
