HowTheLightGetsIn 2016 Overview

HowTheLightGetsIn, the world’s largest philosophy and music festival, returns to Hay-on-Wye in Powys Wales. 

They kick off HowTheLightGetsIn with the biggest of the three festivals over the Bank Holiday weekend. Prepare yourself for 5 nights and 4 days of some of their biggest acts, from awe-inspiring speakers to electrifying performers.

HowTheLightGetsIn Bank Holiday Festival 5pm Fri 27th - Mon 30th May

HowTheLightGetsIn Bank Holiday Festival tickets give you access to the full programme of events from Friday 27th May to Monday 30th May including more than 250 events, over 100 debates and talks, 150 artists and performers, and much, much more. They know you don't need another reason to go, but you'll get bonus access to their Thursday night Trailblazer, too.

HowTheLightGetsIn Midweek Festival gives you space to think, talk, dance and play. It's a more relaxed atmosphere than the weekend festivals ... but there are parties every evening and a packed schedule. HowTheLightGetsIn Midweek Festival tickets give you access to four days and nights of events from 8pm on Monday 30th May to 8pm on Friday 3rd June ... with over 200 events, 75 debates and talks speakers, 120 bands and performances, and much much more.

HowTheLightGetsIn Finale Festival tickets give you access to the climactic second weekend with some of our biggest headliners. Three days of events Friday 3rd June / Saturday 4th June / Sunday 5th June ... over 190 events, 80 debates and talks, 110 bands and performers, and much, more.

Artists booked to appear: Their 2016 lineup includes three 2015 Mercury Prize nominees - C Duncan, the "finest vocalist in the UK" (Daily Telegraph) ESKA, and Ghostpoet - in addition to DJ and broadcaster Gilles Peterson, folk rock legends Fairport Convention, and Grammy nominees Zero 7. They are welcoming back hero of glam folk King Charles and BRIT-nominated songwriter Nerina Pallot, and the comedy line-up will be joined by witty master of the art Robin Ince.
