A strong line-up, unmissable shows and guilty pleasures are making this year’s 53rd Ludlow Arts Festival a hot tickets this summer.
Record first day ticket sales have delighted the new festival directors; Chris Davis and Chris Moreno, who said “We’d hoped that we had found a stellar line-up of shows for the stunning setting at Ludlow Castle, and the initial ticket sales have proved that audiences are matching our enthusiasm for this year’s Festival. We had an amazing first day at the Box Office and the team has been busy ever since, with great sales across all of the events but in particular for the four outdoor concerts. It’s £100 to see all 4 outdoor concerts which is great value. We’re looking forward to a truly wonderful Festival.”
Musical headliners staged in the stunning outer bailey of Ludlow Castle include celebrated showmen 10CC, bebop superstar JOOLS HOLLAND who will be joined by his blues orchestra, two of Britain’s most loved and most enduring pop groups THE HOLLIES and THE SEARCHERS and a spectacular recreation of THE LAST NIGHT OF THE PROMS presented by GYLES BRANDRETH, and featuring THE ENGLISH NATIONAL PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA.
The 2013 LUDLOW ARTS FESTIVAL will feature a brand-new Big Top Theatre which will house a range of events including hilarious sets from comedy giants REGINALD D HUNTER, and PAUL MERTON’S IMPRO CHUMS, from London’s West End THE REDUCED SHAKESPEARE COMPANY in their wildly popular THE COMPLETE WORKS OF WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE (ABRIDGED) and THE CIRCUS OF HORRORS, the show that has rocked Britain’s Got Talent, with dare devil and bizarre circus acts from all four corners of the world.
The award-winning cabaret comedy FASCINATING AIDA takes to the stage and there is a lunchtime recital from the world-renowned pianist YOUNG-CHOON PARK. For younger audiences, there are four performances of THE GRUFFALO’S CHILD which will be heading to Ludlow straight from a hugely-successful run in the West End, and 75 years after the most famous jazz concert of all time, PETE LONG’S ALL STAR GOODMEN ORCHESTRA recreate Benny Goodman’s 1938 Carnegie Hall Concert in true style.
