Ludlow Arts Festival returns to the wonderful Shropshire town and features 14 outstanding events over ten days against the backdrop of the stunning and historic Ludlow Castle. As well as outdoor concerts in the outer bailey of the Castle they will present ten events in a Big-Top-style Theatre, which is fully seated.

Expect some great music plus theatre performances like The Gruffalo’s Child, and shows from the Reduced Shakespeare Company and Paul Merton.

Artists booked to appear include 10cc, Jools Holland & his Rhythm & Blues Orchestra, The Hollies, and The Searchers.

Ticket prices (from) Priced per artist per event £12 - £35.

Outdoor Stages

They’re sure you will have an enjoyable time at the Ludlow Arts Festival but one thing they are unable to guarantee is the British weather! The majority of our events will be held in their Big-Top Theatre, which is fully-seated. Their four open air events will be held in the Castle’s outer bailey.

Big-Top Theatre Shows: Doors open at various times, please check show listings. Their performance tent has a spacious bar and refreshment foyer for pre-show and interval drinks.

Outdoor Stage Shows: Doors open at 5.30pm. Bring a picnic and enjoy before the show begins! Please note that seating is not provided for the ‘Open Air’ concerts so do bring garden chairs, rugs, picnic tables etc.

There will be a large BBQ with their own chef for your use. Please feel free to bring your own meats etc and ask the chef to cook for you. You will find beer tents, wine bars, Hog Roast, hampers from Ludlow Food Centre, and other food outlets in in the grounds of the Castle.

Camping: No camping at this event – check out our ‘Hotels’ tab for other options.

Disabilities:  They have special arrangements that can be made for wheelchair patrons or patrons with walking difficulties. Toilets for the disabled are within easy reach within the grounds of the Castle. Please call for further information 01584 819005 In the interest of safety and hygiene only Guide Dogs are permitted in the grounds of the Castle.

For their Big-Top Theatre events they have a number of spaces for wheelchairs. For wheelchair users they offer one complimentary carer ticket with your booking.

Benny Goodmans 1938 Carnegie Hall concert to open Ludlow Arts Festival

Famed jazz and big band concert of all time will kick off the 2013 Ludlow Arts festival. Most people firmly believe that Pete Long’s (Ronnie Scott’s Big Band and ex-sax star of Jools Holland’s Rhythm and Blues Orchestra) all-star Goodmen Orchestra has no competitor when it recreates Benny Goodman’s classic Canargie Hall Concert 1938 and the performance on the 21 June is guaranteed to provide all the passion and excitement of the original concert.

The Ludlow Arts Festival is held in the grounds of the historic ruins of  Ludlow Castle, one of the finest examples of medieval castles to be found anywhere in the country. The Castle is situated in Ludlow Town, Castle Square, SY8 1AY.

By Road: Ludlow is located on the A49. From Birmingham, head west on the A456 through Kidderminster. From the M5 leave at Junction 3 and continue on the A456 through Kidderminster.

Car Parking As well as limited on-street ‘pay and display’ parking there are car parks at Castle Street, Lower Galdeford (Smithfield) and Upper Galdeford (Somerfield). Car parking is not available inside Ludlow Castle.
Extra parking available at Ludlow Rugby Club (440 yards from castle)SY8 IEE.

By Train: Ludlow Train Station is a short walk away from Ludlow Town Centre. There are trains to Shrewsbury for the Midlands and Birmingham, connections at Crewe and Manchester for the North, and connections at 
Newport for Bristol and the South West and London and the South East.
