Too Damn Glam is the club brand that takes as much pride in its appearance as it does in its music policy and good-looking crowds. Founded on the sun kissed beaches of Ibiza back in 2005, the brand has gone on to become synonymous with great parties across London and Essex. They hold residencies at places like Pacha London, Mansion Southend and Club Warehouse Edmonton, and even threw a sell out event for 3,000 people last year. Now they team up to launch HD Fest in style with a set from Mark Knight on April 8th. We caught up with him for more…

Hey Mark, how have you been? I hear you were a little under the weather?

Hey mate, yeah had some serious exhaustion going on and then it turned into chronic migraines, but now I'm virtually back to normal.

So you're in India now and just back from Miami, how was that?

Yeah in India ready for the gig, Miami was not its normal party self, it was more gig, sleep, gig, sleep, gig, sleep, for the first time I felt better when I came home than when I flew out there haha!

How has your personal taste evolved in the last 12 months?

I've moved more to the underground, rolling sound of tech house, a little more like Carl Cox. I kind of got label in the electro scene and found the whole Swedish thing very cliche, I've always loved deep house aswell so I try and incorporate that in to my sets too.

What else has been keeping you busy recently?

Well I'm in India now then back to UK and then I'm off to Aisa, its all still crazy but I'm loving it.

You recently said of Facebook that mixing down a certain track was becoming a pain, why was that?

Oh crickey, tracks can be a serious pain sometimes, sometimes its the kick in the bass and certain melodies disappear and it can be to subby, that was the case with this one but I got there in the end and it sounded great. Without sounding boring there haha.

Can you write at any time or do you need to be in the mood?

Oh wow, I constantly get ideas, from traveling a lot or if I'm at home. Sometimes I'll get the laptop out after a night out or a set and throw some ideas in the pot. However when I'm on flights, they can be so boring, so its a perfect opportunity to go over some of my inspirations.

When you're DJ-ing do you feed of the crowd of do your own thing? Is that a strong point for you?

Mate, dj-ing is 80% psychology and 20% dj-ing. Everyone can DJ now, I could teach my mum to DJ and she would be good, especially with all the equipment these days. The real skill is total interacton and reading the room and thats what i always try and aim for.

You recently had two Beatport award wins for your remix of Florence and the Machine, that must have been great?

Yeah mate, was amazing. Its always great to push yourself and when your tracks get selected at that level it just boosts your confidence for the year ahead.

You have always just finished a great track with the legendary Skin, how was that?

Was an absolute honour working with her. The track came out great. If I'm being honest, the track isn't for everyone, its a little like Marmite but we thought it came out great and everyone will get chance to hear it in June, so I'm really excited about that one.

You will also be doing around 20 parties in Ibiza and a compilation to go with? any other productions?

Yep can't wait for the ibiza gigs, they will be on a Wednesday so we are really excited about those at the label, it all ties in with the compilation set for a June release. I'm working on a really cool album with D.Ramerez too, Funkagenda and then I've just got part to remix Joy Division, Love will tear us apart. That will be a great project to work on.

Next week you will be playing the  for Too Damn Glam in Essex, glad to playing near home? Click here for morer details

Oh yeah, really looking forward to it, Im close to home and i have a load of mates coming down so be great to hang out with them and party. I played at the same venue about 10 years ago so this one is really special for me.

What do you like doing outside of music?

Well I have a son of 8 months so that takes up all my time when I get time off and I love it of course, I like watching the football and the rugby and love to play a bit of golf when I can.

Finally where else can we se you in summer?

Festivals mate, we are doing an exclusive show at Global Gathering and then i'll be in the studio and then back on tour again, of course Ibiza will be a big player this summer though.
