The Music of Cream - 50th Anniversary World Tour, Chinnerys Southend, Southend on Sea - 23rd October 2019
Great gig, shame the experience didn't end that well
Musically it was a fantastic gig, especially for those of us who never got to see Cream. So it was amazing to hear all those great tracks live and played with such virtuosity. And the members of the band gave us their memories and background to some of the songs, which added a special element to the show. As to the venue, I have been to the Globe many times and it is what it is, but there are issues which detracted from my enjoyment. There isn't a cloakroom and so you have to swelter in your coat or hold it for the duration. After the music had finished my partner bought another drink and we sat down at the foot of the stairs as I was feeling a bit unwell. Within minutes one of the security staff came over and in the unfriendliest of manners hassled us to leave even though there were quite a number of people still there and my partner had only just been sold a drink. So I would say close the bar if you are keen to get people to leave promptly and treat people with a bit more respect. The staff are just surly and it makes you reflect on the friendlier venues to see live music in Cardiff. But the band itself - amazing!
