The wonderful Aberjazz Festival celebrates the best of Jazz and Blues, and is held in various venues around Fishguard and the surrounding area. The festival lights up this wonderfully atmospheric Pembrokeshire town in the Wild West of Wales over the Bank Holiday weekend. The atmosphere is electric as the event takes over the town's venues and streets for a four-night extravaganza.
Once again, this year they have a fantastic line up which is a diverse blend of jazz, blues and everything in between. Expect a full programme of events in the character venue of Ffwrn with too many acts to mention, plus the usual quality events in their intimate jazz cafe, Peppers, and events in Theatr Gwaun, as well as many fringe events in the pubs in the twin towns. This year the festival celebrates on the theme of The Jazz Age Centenary.
Expect a party atmosphere as the town and its environs comes to life with live music in the pubs, and busking in the streets. This is carnival weekend in Fishguard and Aberjazz keeps it going for five days.
Aberjazz is a community group run by volunteers who work hard to promote live music in the twin towns of Fishguard and Goodwick as well as the immediate surrounding area. It was originally formed to put on an annual Jazz festival which was changed to include blues and new music so as to widen the appeal. They now promote live music events throughout the year in the area through their club and other music events culminating in the Fishguard Jazz and Blues festival in August. Aberjazz is now well established as part of Pembrokeshire’s music scene.
