5 Festivals for the May Bank Holiday Weekend

The May Bank holiday sees the festival season move into full swing with festivals taking place across the length and breadth of the country, so here are 5 which we think are well worth checking out.

Common People

Date: 23 – 24 May
Where: Southampton Common, SO15 7NN
Tickets: Day tickets £30.00, Weekend Tickets £70.00

Common People is the latest edition to the Bestival Family, the music line up is a combination of established DJ’s and live acts plus new artists just waiting to become tomorrow’s household names. Away from the music you can expect the Bestival creative team to transform Southampton Common into a wonderland of eye popping attractions, oh yes and don't forget the fireworks.

Line Up includes: Fat Boy Slim, Grace Jones, De La Soul, Jaguar Skills, DJ Yoda, George The Poet, Clean Bandit, Band of Skulls, Years & Years, Criag Charles and of course The Cuban Brothers & Rob da Bank

Bearded Theory

Date: 22 – 24 May
Where: Catton Park, DE12 8LN
Tickets: £87.00 including camping

The award winning Bearded Theory is a flagship festival which provides an excellent quality of line-up, entertainment, facilities, sheer value for money, and darn good times. If that was not enough, Bearded is one of the sadly dwindling number of festivals where you are able to take your own alcohol into the arena!

Line up includes: The Mission, New Model Army, James, Buzzcocks, Misty in Roots, The Beat, Alabama 3, Hugh Cornwell, Afro Celt Sound System and British Sea Power

Knockengorroch World Ceilidh

Date: 22 – 24 May
Where: Knockengorroch Farm, DG7 3TJ
Tickets: £90 including camping

Knockengorroch is a family friendly festival set in its own beautiful glen in the stunning upland landscape of the Galloway Hills. The festival has one of the friendliest crowds, with a huge range of acts/genres and an unrivalled atmosphere!

Line Up includes: Young Fathers, Peatbog Faeries, Shooglenifty, Scratch Perverts, Macka b, Ferocious Dog, Baghdaddies, DJ Format, Mungos Hi Fi Sound System.

Liverpool Sound City

Date: 22 – 24 May
Where: Bramley-Moore Dock, L3 0AP
Tickets: £65 for the weekend, £35 per day

Liverpool Sound City provides a great chance to see the artists tipped for greatness before your mates, while enjoying performances by some biggest names in rock. Running alongside the music there are presentations by the industries movers and shakers.

Line Up includes: The Vaccines, The Flaming Lips, Belle and Sebastian, Everything Everything, Spector, The Thurston Moore Band, Stealing Sheep, Gaz Coombes, The Cribs

Love Saves The Day

Date: 23 - 24 May
Where: Eastville Park, BS5 6XA
Tickets: £79.50 for the weekend, £45 per day

Now in its fourth year Bristol's Love Saves The Day, brings the party to the people across eight stages, the event prides itself on having some of the best dance music you could ever wish to hear  When the lights go down at the festival you can carry on partying at a number of after parties.

Line Up includes:  Jessie Ware, Azealia Banks, Horace Andy and Dub Asante Band, Julio Bashmore, Groove Armada, Indiana, Roni Size Reprazent, Grandmaster Flash
