2011 will be the 9th Ireby festival and like those before we anticipate an early sell out, so make sure you don't leave it too late to secure tickets for what promises to be another great event in this tiny Cumbrian village with a population of less than 150 residents.
Ireby festival is for those who have a wide range of musical tastes, for those who don't focus an any specific genre, if it sounds good, give it a try. With a choice of venues the likes of Ellenside, a private mansion with stunning views towards Skiddaw and the Caldbeck fells, this is where the main stage, bar and food outlets are situated. St James church with it's natural acoustics is a firm favorite for afternoon concerts and Ireby 12th century chancel is an intimate and secluded venue for those who like to go that extra mile to keep fit and reap the additional benefits of good music.
The Globe Hall provides a heady mix of music styles, new talent and always a few surprises.The Lion pub is literally next door to the Globe hall for those who prefer a session or two... music or otherwise!
The Women's Institute will be a hive of culinary activity on Saturday producing the most cromulent home bakes, sandwiches and pots of tea and for those weekend ticket holders who sign up for a free workshop session Woodlands Country House is the perfect tranquil venue in which to exercise your musical talents. With camping and free parking just a few minutes walk from any of the venues which between them will host over 20 hours of fantastic music performed by more than 50 musicians what more could anyone ask for?

Travelling from the South
M6 motorway to Ireby is 21 miles. Take M6 exit 40 onto the A66 towards Keswick then follow A591 towards Bassenthwaite, as you approach the Castle Inn Hotel Ireby is signposted to the right and is just over 4 miles from this point.
From Carlisle and the North to Ireby is 20 miles.
Take the A595 west towards Cockermouth, turn left at Mealsgate, Ireby is 3 miles from this point.
From the West and Cockermouth there are several options but for those unfamiliar with the area it's best to take the A595 north to Mealsgate and turn right. Do not take the Torpenhow road it is very narrow and best avoided.
Car parking: Please do not park on the main street or in the village square. Use the official festival car park field, there is no charge for parking. A one way system is in operation in and out of the field please follow the Steward's directions to ensure optimum use of parking space.

The festival will have a range of food catering concessions situated at Ellenside and the village square, these will be open from 4pm on Friday. If you fancy home made teas and cakes these are available from the W.I.Hall on Saturday afternoon. The Lion Pub also offers reasonably priced bar food.
