Isle of Wight 2015 PreviewPosted on Wed 10th June 2015
For many people the Isle of Wight Festival denotes the start of the UK Festival season, and you can understand why, the event is steeped in history and every year new attractions are added to what is always one of the best line ups you could wish to see.
So here are 5 things to look out for at this years festival:
1. The Only Way is Essex
2015 sees three of the finest bands to come out of Essex.
Friday night headliners The Prodigy will being bass notes that will set the heart a thumping, anger as epitomised in their current album The World Is My Enemy and a mosh pit or two.
Saturday night sees Blur headlining the Main Stage, they to have a new album, while not being their best certainly has enough good moments to fit in with the anthems that they will no doubt perform.
Forever Never who were touted as the next great British metal band 5 years ago have recently reformed and if their new single is anything to go by you can be sure of a set of high octane rock, plus a few lighter moments.
2. Fleetwood Mac
John Giddings has been trying to get Fleetwood Mac to appear at the festival for a few years now, and it’s easy to see why. Fleetwood Mac have a back catalogue to die for, no risk here of ‘here is a new song’ this will be a case of rolling back the years.
3 Champagne Bar
OK not rock’n’roll but I can’t think of a better way to relax before getting down to Kool & The Gang on Saturday afternoon
4. Kool & The Gang
I’m sure Kool & The Gang will provide the cheesiest moment of the weekend, but it would be wrong to write it off as cheap entertainment, their sound was intrinsic to the sounds of the seventies and has inspired so many artists in subsequent years.
5. World Record
World records aren’t just there for the likes of Bradley Wiggins, this years will see a world record attempt for the number of people wearing Jimi Hendrix masks.
