Yorfest is coming to the Knavesmire at York, a Yorkshire Festival, with Yorkshire bands for Yorkshire people! Saturday 26 September 2015.
Alan Murray shares his vision of the festival with us...
A few years ago, after attending the V Festival in Staffordshire, and whilst out walking my dogs on the grounds near York Racecourse, looking at the vast amount of space there, I thought, “Why doesn’t York have its own Festival?” So it was then, that I started to think more into the idea.
After deciding what to call the Festival, my initial thought was that both established and up and coming bands from the Yorkshire area should appear in the line-up. As we are lucky enough to be awash with talented Yorkshire musicians, it was fitting that the People from York and surrounding areas should have a say into what they come to see; YORFEST was born.
Meetings with the local Council have gone very well. Everyone I spoke to was very positive about the possibility of having our own Festival.
“Yorkshire Bands, for Yorkshire People, in a Yorkshire Venue” is the vision. We are sourcing ALL companies and products from Yorkshire. This is truly `The` Yorkshire Festival
From that, we intend to support charities both local and Nationally
YORFEST will be supporting Alzheimer’s Society, and the invaluable service of the Yorkshire Air Ambulance in 2015.
The festival is to be held on Saturday 26th Sept 2015, at York Knavesmire, where there will be one main stage.
