At a time where every festival tries to be different, Y Not Festival keeps it simple: music, beer and fun. Their approach seems to be working having sold 25,000 tickets, compared to 15,000 last year.

This year’s line up includes the likes of Coral, Editors, Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, Madness, Catfish & the Bottlemen, The Hives and The Cribs to name but a few.

Here are some of the pleasures you can expect at this year’s Y Not Festival

Singing Wonderwall with Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds - After a day of watching great bands and maybe having a sherbet or two what could be better than singing/screaming on of rocks greatest anthems at the top of your voice.

TONY - The Druids have Stonehenge, Y Notters have TONY, where regulars congregate to have photo’s taken in various poses to share on Social Media.

The Giant Squid - Y Not’s very own alternative stage, with a line up that would not look out of place at 2000trees. Bands playing this year include Deep Vally, Neckdeep, siKth, Eagulls, Moose Blood, Lonely the Brave, Black Peaks and Heck..

100 Real Ales & Cider - Why drink mass produced lager and cider when you have a choice 100 real ales, ciders and perrys to choose from, including Y Not Ale and Moonshine.

King Pleasure and the Biscuit Boys - Glastonbury may have Jeff Lynne’s ELO, but Y Not have King Pleasure and the Biscuit Boys a big band with a difference, yes they play the classics, and the bassist plays the Double Bass behind their head, Hendrix style.

Paint Fight - OK we all love getting a bit messy, but the Y Notters take it to the next level, some bring their own paint powder, others roll around in the floor when its over just to ensure they are covered from top to toe.

Mr Motivator - the latest fad for getting over a hangover is coconut water, it tastes OK, but it’s not nearly as enjoyable as a work out with the legend that is Mr Motivator. So get out of your tents and head for the Big Gin Stage for an early stretch with thousands of others..

The Neon Coconut - New for this year, the first dedicated dance stage at Y Not, if the buzz is a s good as the retro logo you will be in for a blast. Line up includes Craig Charles, Mike Skinner and DJ Yoda.

The Hog & Barrel - If you like sitting in a bar, drinking high quality ales and ciders, while listening to great unsigned bands there are few better venues than the Hog & Barrel.

The Nighthawk Cinema - Another new addition for this year, with films being played throughout the day, the ideal place to chill out for a while, or just to get out of the sun (no harm in being optimistic)
