Indie legends Echo and The Bunnymen and Peter Hook and the Light head an eclectic line-up at this summer’s Willowman Festival in North Yorkshire.

The four-day family friendly festival will once again take place at the Hillside Rural Activities Park in Knayton, near Thirsk, over the Solstice weekend between June 18 and 21.

Billing itself as the UK’s best value four-day music festival, Willowman includes free parking, free camping and a range of real-ales at pub prices that would have your average CAMRA member smiling into their pint pot – all for just £85.

As well as tracks from their celebrated new album Meteorites, Bunnymen fans making the trip to the Willowman Festival can expect to hear a set packed full of classic tracks from early albums Crocodiles, Heaven Up Here, Porcupine and the seminal Ocean Rain.

Festival goers can also expect Peter Hook and the Light to perform classics from Hooky’s former bands Joy Division and New Order.

Now in its sixth year, The Willowman Festival has gained a national reputation for offering a diverse line up of both new and established artists, while keeping ticket prices rock bottom.

Just some of the supporting cast includes festival favourites Dreadzone, Frankie and the Heartstrings, Hazel O’Connor, Goldblade, The Toasters, Jeff Green Project, Ferocious Dog, Neck, Astralasia, New Groove Formation, Skeletal Family, Talisman and Pearl Handled Revolver.

Kicking off the festival is DJ and former Old Grey Whistle Test presenter Andy Kershaw who will host the opening night party on Thursday June 18.

This year Willowman Festival will also unveil its new expanded acoustic tent Acoustic performances will now take place in a large Bedouin-style Berber tent with an array of talent including guitar George Borowski.

As well as the acoustic shows the bigger tent will host a comedy bill and for the first time the grand final of the Amp Awards which showcases music talent from schools across Yorkshire.

Festival director Steve Williams said: “This year is shaping up to be the biggest Willowman yet. I though last year would be hard to beat with The Wailers topping the bill but this year’s line-up has really caught the imaginations of music fans.”

“Echo and The Bunnymen are touring hard on the back of a cracking new album and Hooky’s band will be playing on the back of tours down under and the USA. There’s more children’s entertainment this year and the bar will be bigger and better with an amazing range of real ales at sensible prices.”

The last remaining tickets are on sale for a budget-busting £85 (which includes four nights camping and free parking). Children aged 11 and under go free, while young people tickets (ages 12 to 16) are priced at just £40.

Willowman Festival was nominated in four categories in the UK Festival Awards 2014. Best Small, Best Roots and Best Family Festival as well as Best Toilets!
