Entering its fifth year The Willowman Festival has gained a reputation of offering an eclectic line up of both new and established artists along with the best value for money on the Festival circuit – and 2014 is no exception!

In 2014 The Willowman Festival will surpass all of its previous line-ups.

Reggae music is always the beat that makes everybody dance including one such major reggae hit called “The Willow Tree”. That aside this year’s festival will be host to the Worlds most popular reggae band ever!

The Wailers…

Having sold in excess of 250 million albums, still to this day they continue to perform to hundreds of thousands of people world – wide.

Bob’s songs are amongst the most requested and played on radio and TV and often featured in films, more recently in a documentary Film by Kevin Macdonald  “Marley” celebrating Bob’s life.

Keeping it in the family The Wailers are lead by original Bass Guitar player Aston “Family Man” Barrett. Family Man gained his name by the amount of children he fathered over the years which fits in well with The Willowman ethos of “having something for all the family”, he was, and still is known to this day for his rhythmical Bass Guitar lines that dominate Bob’s records and songs such as “Jammin’”, “One Love” and “I don’t want to wait in vain” The One Drop himself!

CRAIG CHARLES Funk & Soul Show

Starting his carrier as an actor, Craig starred in the much-loved space sitcom “RED DWARF”. He played the space ship’s hippy, lounge-about Vindaloo and lager lout, “Lister”. His ship’s company was made up of a hologram, the controlling computer voice, a robot and the ships CAT (a funky dude in a pimp suit). Craig paved his way into becoming a household name with a part in “Coronation Steer”. Recently Craig has established himself as a top DJ with a Funk & Soul Show on BBC6 and now Radio 2. Craig regularly performs in clubs and other major festivals. His reputation has now spread across the world and he is currently travelling internationally as far as Australia and New york. You’ll be grooving, moving and making shapes all night long. Break out those Fro’s and Flairs for the funkiest DJ set ever!  CRAIG CHARLES - A National Treasure

Further additions to the bill include Radical Dance Faction with a new album released they have earned themselves as a festival favourite and return to the Willowman for the second time round – a crowd pleaser.

Mountain of Love featuring two founding members of Alabama 3 dance, groove and a hint of sinister Mafia theme tunes from The Soprano’s TV show.

New Electric Ride, originally from Sunderland who reproduce the psychedelic 60’s sound of the Beatles and the Byrds.

Pikey Beatz make a welcome return with their crowd pleasing dance roots reggae style.  

Avalanche Party recently formed between two local bands The Chapman Family and 3 foot Ninja promise to rock the festival along with quirky Electro Popsters Teesside’s Head of Light Entertainment.

Now situated at Hillside Rural Activities Park Knayton Thirsk YO7 4AN The Willowman has become part of the festival circuit which people from as far as Moscow mark in their diaries each year regardless of who might be appearing.
