Wath Festival is keen to nurture young performers and support those who may be the next household names in folk, roots and acoustic music.

In 2011, the festival teamed up with local musician, Charlie Barker and her company The Partnership Media to start a search for young performers aged between 16 - 24 for the Wath Young Performers Award to win the trophy, open up for the main headlining act and take away a cash prize .

After months of searching and listening to submissions three acts (Phil Sinclair, Joby Hardwick and duo Luke Hirst & Sarah Smout) were selected to play before judges John McCusker, Kris Drever and radio presenter Dave Eyre on the festival weekend.

After much deliberation, Norfolk-based Luke & Sarah took first place and performed at the festival's finale concert that night, in front of a full house supporting Drever, McCusker, Talbot & Woomble.

You can now submit your act for the Wath Young Performers Award at this year's festival, if you're between 16 - 24 years old on Sunday 6th May 2012 and play acoustic, folk or roots music.
