Rolling Stones, Eminem & Biffy Clyro battle it out for Best Headline performance at UK Festival Awards 2013. Anticipation is rising as full nominee shortlists is revealed for the 10th Anniversary of UKFA 2nd December 2013, The Roundhouse, London.

The Headline Performance of the Year category couldn’t be more diverse this year, the ethereal sounds of Sigur Rós at End of The Road Festival going up against hard-hitting German metal of Rammstein at Download Festival. The Rolling Stones returned to Hyde Park after 44 years for Barclaycard presents British Summertime, but 2013 also saw their Glastonbury debut and both sets are in the running for Headline gong. Elsewhere it’s Kilmarnock vs. Detroit with Biffy Clyro and Eminem also both nominated for their bill-topping Reading & Leeds performances.
2013 saw British acts dominating the summer charts, with Sheffield rockers Arctic Monkeys’ crowd-pleasing single “Do I Wanna Know?”, Oxford indie quintet Foals with the stomper “Inhaler” and Hackney foursome Rudimental with infectious anthem “Feel the Love” featuring John Newman. All three artists lost out on the 2013 Mercury Music Prize, but the field is wide open for the title of Anthem of The Summer at the UK Festival Awards.
HAIM brought back girl power to the festival masses this year with their UK number one album “Days are Gone” and are up for the Breakthrough Act award this year. Also keeping it in the family, brothers Guy and Howard Lawrence, better known as Disclosure are one of six acts flying the British flag in this category.
The Best Major Festival category sees season staples, Reading & Leeds and T in The Park, Creamfields, Global Gathering to the goliath that is Glastonbury nominated. However, relative new-comer Parklife Weekender also makes the 2013 shortlist and following a fourth consecutive sellout it could pip the big boys to the post.
2013 saw the emergence of new events spanning over many different genres reflected in the shortlist for Best New Festival. London and the South East came out on top as the playground for the EDM scene, with Essex’s We Are FSTVL and London’s FOUND. On 2nd December fans will find out if these budding electronic events can stave off competition from the likes of Barclaycard presents British Summer Time and others.
