Tom Middleton is the latest name to be announced for this year’s Live From Jodrell Bank series bringing his acclaimed Sounds Of The Cosmos set to the University of Manchester’s Jodrell Bank Observatory.  He will perform at the specially curated by New Order show on July 7th and the inaugural Jodrell Bank proms with Manchester symphony orchestra the Hallé on August 31st.

Tom Middleton is a revered name on the electronic music circuit, a pioneering composer, producer, DJ, remixer, music curator, and festival favourite.

Tom isn't just a DJ. He's a scientist; a meticulous technician with a thirst for all musical forms from bass to breakbeats, Beatles to baroque.  Ultimately, everything that Tom touches has emotional integrity, conveying deep meaning through sound, embellishing feeling for a truly universal connection.

He has carved a unique career that's spanned from his deep space masterpieces such as Global Communication and Jedi Knights to the breath taking debut album 'Life Tracks', a homage to ambient and soundtrack music. To this day he refuses to sample other people's music, preferring instead to create his own sounds using a virtual orchestra and studio session band he’s programmed, and performs every instrument himself.

This sound architect’s specially selected sets will perfectly encapsulate the moment as music and science lovers gather underneath the stars and the magnificent Lovell Telescope.

New Order have curated their own eagerly anticipated Live From Jodrell Bank show which features hand-picked support acts, Johnny Marr, Public Service Broadcasting, The Whip, Jake Evans and Hot Vestry.  It is many years since New Order and Johnny Marr have shared the same stage and a memorable collaboration on the evening has been suggest by the artists.

Other shows taking place in 2013 as part of the Live From Jodrell Bank series include Icelandic ambient/post rock act Sigur Rós who will perform in August and The Australian Pink Floyd Show who perform a celebration show to mark the 40th Anniversary of the release of the seminal Pink Floyd album, The Dark Side Of The Moon.

The Live From Jodrell Bank series is acclaimed as much for the otherworldly dimensions of its Science Arena activity as it is for the transcendent sounds of the artists that perform at these unique events at the Jodrell Bank Observatory.  Confirmed science activity for 2013 includes Noisy Toys / Explore The Earth And The Solar System / Science Behind The Music / Light For Life / Physics In The Field / Large Hadron Collider / Sound Lab and much more.

The Live From Jodrell Bank series sees some of the most innovative artists performing in this unique and dramatic setting, marrying science and music and bringing the audience superlative sounds from earth and beyond.
