As thousands of music fans up and down the country flock to the fields to see their favourite artists this festival season, the long-standing issues that surround the otherwise fun and memorable events still remain, such as having no mobile phone signal and losing mates in the crowd… but this could soon be a thing of the past as the third best selling spirit brand has today launched the world’s first prototype Festival Friend Finder.

With ‘losing a friend’ voted as one of the biggest festival bugbears in a poll of 1,000 Brits*, Jägermeister has worked with leading British designers to create The Jägermeister Festival Friend Finder in order to solve this common problem amongst festival goers.

The device consists of a main tracking unit that can be wirelessly paired with up to four tags. With friends wearing the tags, the tracker uses both RF (Radio Frequency) technology and visual and audible signals to point the user in the direction of a paired tag. The device features an emergency alert button which signals to all friends with trackers for help and can also remind them if they’ve strayed too far from the bar or main stage!

Importantly, this gadget escapes the pitfalls of mobile phone apps that use GPS technology (this gadget works both indoors and outdoors), it doesn’t suffer from ‘poor reception’ and doesn’t need charging every 8 hours; so no matter where your friends are on the festival site, you’re never far away.

Sleek in design and discrete in size and portability, the tags can be seamlessly and securely attached to festival lanyards and wristbands, a tent or left at a meeting point to guide festival attendees back to their mates or the comfort of their camp bed.

Samantha Green, Jägermeister Events Manager, says: “Jägermeister has a packed festival season every year and we’ve witnessed first-hand, the frustration of hearing your favourite band, but not being with your mates.

“These events are all about sharing the amazing experience with friends and creating long lasting memories which groups of mates can look back on in years to come, and so we really hope this prototype will be in the hands of all festival-goers one day soon”.

Expected to rank highly in all essential festival kit lists throughout the UK alongside tents, toilet roll and waterproofs the prototype is being tested by Jägermeister at festivals this summer.
