Looking for a thrilling Valentine’s Night with a difference?! A ‘shivers down the spine’ night out is promised by inspired folktronica duo Nick Janaway and Sarah Owen at Dorchester Arts Centre when they perform a chilling, in-the-moment improvisation of sound to accompany the screening of John S. Robertson’s 1920 film Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, starring John Barrymore as the split personality Victorian scientist.

Their haunting, shadowy soundscapes are about to be heard across five counties in the South West as they embark on a 10-date tour across the region from February 14-May 4.

Tickets for the Friday, February 14 premiere at Dorchester, price £8 and £6 are available from the box office on 01305 266929.

There will be a second Dorset date at Bridport Arts Centre on Saturday, February 15. Tickets price £8 (£7 members) available from box office on 01308 424204 or online here.

Described by fRoots magazine as “one of the most original acts playing English folk music” their highly inventive show is improvised with homemade software. They conjure an edgy “other worldliness” that has to be witnessed, anticipating and reacting to the unfolding scenes of the film. All the sounds the audience will hear are created live during the performance -utilising voices, laptops, instruments and a diversity of sampled sound objects - so no two performances will be the same.

Staged just once before, at Salisbury Arts Centre last February, the performance shows why the pair clinched the Innovation Award at the 2012 FATEA Music Magazine Awards. The Routes South West tour will take the duo to Dorset, Somerset, Devon, Cornwall and Somerset.

The second half of the show will see Exeter-based Sarah and Bristol-based Nick performing some of the innovative tracks from their latest acclaimed album Lips of Clay which transports nine traditional English and Welsh folk songs into surreal new soundscapes.
