Sailor Jerry will be back behind the grill at East London’s Tobacco Dock, for the world famous meat festival, Meatopia.

Brace yourself for two days of top-notch cuts served by a stellar line-up of some of the country’s greatest meat masters, complimented by live music and old-school spiced rum cocktails served up by the way Norman “Sailor Jerry” Collins would be proud of.

If you haven’t already had the chance to tuck into our damn-tasty rum-infused menu, now’s the chance. Chef and owner of East London’s Psychic Burger and White Rabbit restaurants, Danny Cheetham, will be offering up mouth-watering plates of the Rib ‘O’ Beef, inspired by the original flash artwork of Norman “Sailor Jerry” Collins and hand-picked by the creators behind Meatopia. Think beef fore rib slow cooked over soaked wood chips, smothered in Sailor Jerry BBQ sauce – drooling yet?

As well as your favourite spiced rum cocktails, we’ll also be offering up Sailor Jerry Morning Glory, a fiery blend of spiced rum and tomato juice muddled together with a dash of pickle brine, a sting of Tabasco sauce, lemon juice and a secret spice mix.

WARNING: The craftsmanship behind this Bloody Mary recipe belongs to EmmaLi Stenhouse, Sailor Jerry Ambassador, and is not for the fainthearted.

For those not brave enough to give the Sailor Jerry Morning Glory a try, there’ll be a Bloody Mary bar to create your own. Remember, as the man said ‘bold simplicity is the keynote to good design’.

Blade bearing gents from AONO Barbers will also be joining us for the ride, so make sure you’re first in line for a signature haircut – where else can you eat meat, have a drink and get groomed at the same damn time?

Oh and make sure you look out for Ginger, a 3 foot one-off Sailor Jerry neon, created by Walthamstow’s electric wonderland God’s Own Junkyard.

On Saturday afternoon Tom Findlay and Phil Ward will be involved in a labour of love, playing a ‘yacht rock’ set from the boat at the back of the dock. Think the best of 70s Blue Eyed soul/Americana (Hall & Oates, the Doobie Bros et al) – the perfect, slightly shameless BBQ soundtrack. Later on, over in the pub, the party-starter par excellence Norman Jay, MBE will be bringing the Good Times soundsystem to Tobacco Dock.

Sunday afternoon we go Nu Skool on food and music. To that end the brilliant uber compilation label Strut Records will be getting on board the boat to bring you a soundtrack inspired by Island Records Compass Point Studios. 1970′s and 80′s groove workouts, the sound of the Caribbean Islands finding funk, and making it their own. Then over to the pub that evening with Peckham’s finest party organisers ‘Love Glove’ bringing their own inimitable style of nu skool disco, in the company of the brilliant wunderkid Medlar, and Horse Meat Disco’s peerless Severino. Add in Vintage Remix DJ’s and live performers like The Gents, brass bands, various orchestras, flamenco dancers, piano players, 1930′s harmony trios and a sea shanty collective called the Balina Whalers and you get an idea of the breadth and depth of music this year. Phew.
