Local musicians, street entertainers and family friendly activities will take over the town’s streets from this Saturday as visitors will be able to enjoy free events taking place on Abington Street, All Saints Piazza and the Market Square.

Organised by Northampton Borough Council in partnership with the Northampton music 365 project, Most Marvellous, Northampton Leisure Trust and the Northampton Town Centre BID, the Love Northampton Summer Events programme will kick off from Saturday 26 July and will run until Saturday 30 August.

Entertainment will include quality local music on a traditional bandstand setting as well as a variety of street acts, featuring acrobats and circus performers plus fairground rides and Northampton’s very own beach on the Market Square.

Councillor Brandon Eldred, Northampton Borough Council cabinet member for community engagement, said: “Once again we have organised a summer filled with events for the town. From live music concerts to beer festivals as well as outdoor film showings, Northampton has been able to enjoy a wide variety of events suitable for the whole family.
“And starting this weekend, the Love Northampton Summer Events programme will deliver quality entertainment, creating a great atmosphere for shoppers, families and visitors coming into the town.”

Jo Burns-Russell from Northampton Music 365, said: “It’s fantastic that we are able to work with Northampton Borough Council to program a summer of great local music in the Town Centre, after the success of this year’s Northampton Music Festival we know that the people of Northampton really like to support local musical talent, and we’ll have a great mix of bands young and old playing over the coming weeks.”
