Glastonbury have finally confirmed that Metallica will headline the Pyramid Stage on Saturday 28th June. Metallica will be the first metal band to headline the festival one week before they headline Sonisphere at Knebworth Park.

On revealing the headliner Michael Eavis said: "Metallica are one of the most popular bands in the world! And they really are a phenomenal live act. This a band that can sell out stadiums in pretty much every country on the planet. From Newlyn to Newcastle on my travels, all through the years, people keen asking me, "When are Metallica going to play?" There's a huge swathe of people who love Metallica to bits and just think they're absolutely amazing. They're worthy headliners!"

The War On Drugs, Nick Mulvey and English National Ballet have also been added to the Pyramid Stage line-up.

HAIM, Bombay Bicycle Club and The Horrors have been added to the Other Stage line-up. The London Sinfonietta and Jonny Greenwood (Radiohead), The Stepkids and Deltron 3030 are amongst the names added to the West Holts bill.
