Allotment Play, White Mink Speakeasy, Bollywood Nights... exciting extras for Larmer Tree Festival revealed!

Wednesday 11th-Sunday 15th July 2012

Renowned for its brilliant yet eclectic music line-up and the hottest comedians on the circuit, Larmer Tree Festival is pleased to reveal a whole host of other exciting entertainment for all.  There’s an offsite adventure to the festival’s Co-Director’s allotment, themed nights, an end of festival party being curated by none other than The Nest Collective and so much more...

In 2011 the festival introduced The Big Top experiment, this year it’s going to be bigger, better and brighter with two themed nights.  It’s White Mink Speakeasy on Friday evening featuring The Correspondents headlining, Swing Zazou ripping it up and DJ Nick Hollywood on the decks.  Kicking off the retro theme, there’ll also be a late afternoon Vintage Tea Dance with tea, cakes and dancing with The Regular Joes and ‘40s tribute band The Spitfire Sisters

On Saturday night the festival will be going all Eastern with Bollywood Nights.  Big Bhangra band RSVP are hosting and headlining, the urban fusion band Silkadelic supporting and DJ Heinz is mixing on the decks.

Festival Co-Director Julia Safe is opening up her allotment to invite festival-goers to enjoy an offsite adventure on Sunday.  For the first time in 22 years, audience members will board a big red Routemaster bus and travel to the allotment, just minutes away, to see the 2011 Fringe First award winning play Allotment by Nutshell Theatre Company.  Closely bound sisters Maddy and Dora do battle over flying teddies, stubborn weeds and the eternal question - do flowers matter more than vegetables?  There’ll be two performances taking place at 12pm and 2pm.

Ending the festival in style with some of the best roots and world music from the vibrant London scene, The Nest Collective will be curating the end of festival party in The Social on Sunday night.  Bringing with them some of their top acts including Melodica, Melody and Me, Maia and The Camberwell Krakeb Club - it’ll be one hell of a party!

There’ll also be a quirky line-up of highly amusing, spontaneous street theatre to keep everyone entertained as they wander about the gardens.  Watch out for Big Rory and his lovable rogue Ochie the Dog, who has been known to mistake a human leg for a tree trunk!  And, don’t miss Musical Ruth - audiences won’t forget meeting the singing nun!

Plus, the festival has added a new dimension to its award winning toilets this year.  Expect the unexpected with the new lyrical loos...  poetry, philosophy, groovy music or humour, festival-goers will never know what they might hear and when.  They’ll have to keep a curious ear open and choose wisely when nature calls!

All of this is on top of a fantastic programme of workshops and shows dedicated specifically for adults, youths, children and there’s even an under 5s activity programme.

Day tickets and 3, 4 or 5 day tickets are available and prices start from as little as £36 for an adult.  For more info and to book tickets click HERE
