Folk Weekend Oxford is back for it's third year – and this year it’s even bigger with more local and nationally acclaimed artists. Between Friday 25th – Sunday 27th April 2014 Oxford will be brimming with folk music, song, and a lot of dancing! And with the return of the Village Fête and Children’s Festival there really is something for everyone. Season tickets are available online with no booking fee costing £49 (£45 concessions, £35 youth, £25 under 12). Day and individual concert tickets will become available as the festival approaches. Folk Weekend: Oxford

This year the line up includes some incredible artists, including BBC Radio 2 Folk Award double-nominees Josienne Clark and Ben Walker, and 2013’s Young Folk Award winners Greg Russell & Ciaran Algar, who are also nominated for Best Newcomer in 2014. Their patron, Jackie Oates (herself a double Folk Award winner) will be playing alongside Chris Sarjeant (of the Will Pound Band) in one of his rare solo sets.

The festival also has a lot to offer from local artists, not least Oxfordshire's Megan Henwood (winner of BBC Young Folk Award 2009) who will be headlining our Saturday night concert. Other local names to look out for include Steph West: harp player and singer, who performed with the British Paraorchestra on several projects including the Paralympics closing ceremony in 2012. They also welcome popular duo Jenkinson’s Folly, Wednesday Wolves, James Bell and of course, Rising Voices – our incredible folk choir.

Returning in 2014 is the Village Fête which will once again fill Gloucester Green with music, dance, and craft. The Handmade Makers are hosting crafts workshops, there’s a treasure trail for the whole family, fête games and a positivity tree. Throughout the weekend, the fête will be filled with a mixture of Morris dancing and performances to keep the folk fun reeling on.

The Children’s Festival takes place in the enchanting Pitt Rivers museum, Wesley Memorial Church and Westgate Central Library. The programme includes storytelling, singing workshops, Morris dancing workshops, a family ceilidh and creative workshops from local charity OYAP Trust.

Folk Weekend Oxford 2014 takes place at Old Fire Station, 40 George Street, Oxford, Oxfordshire between Fri 25th to Sun 27th April 2014.
