There’s almost 7 weeks until the Deer Shed Festival (which takes place in Baldersby Park 24th-26th July) and a spokesperson for the festival jokingly suggested that there’s something uneasy about selling out with so much time to go; there’s that niggling in the back of your mind that you could have sold more tickets and created a bigger festival.

However, Deer Shed Festival prides itself on its family-friendly atmosphere and that means open green spaces and opportunities to let your little ones run around without losing them amongst thousands and thousands of festival-going strangers. The Deer Shed Festival offers you a comfortable festival experience with showers, decent toilets, and a camping conditions which won’t see you lying your canvas-weekend-home over someone else’s tent pegs!

Looking at the line-up, it’s easy to see how Deer Shed 6 has sold out. Not only does it have a music line-up which boasts the likes of John Grant, Billy Bragg, The Unthanks, and Villagers, its arts line-up showcases some of the best comic shows in the country (Funz and Gamez, Pappy’s, Slightly Fat Features) and some of the nation’s most outspokenly interesting characters (Billy Bragg, Viv Albertine, Andy Kershaw). Add to that a plethora of crafts and activities for all ages and a science workshop that will bring out your inner-Einstein, and it’s a wonder Deer Shed 6 didn’t sell out sooner.

Whilst being able to replace the dwindling number of “available tickets” written neatly on the whiteboard with a huge uppercased “SOLD OUT” was rightfully cause for celebration around the Deer Shed office, the party did not last long. There’s still plenty to do before the Festival starts and lots of awesome surprises still being planned. One thing is for sure: Deer Shed 6 is going to be the biggest and the best Deer Shed yet!
