Y Not Festival 2014

In just 10 days Pikehall will be home to one of the diamonds in the independent festival scene: Y Not Festival. Over the years Y Not Festival has won a shed load of awards and here are ten reasons why you can't afford to miss this years Y Not Festival:

1. The line up – Y Not consistently punches above its weight and this year is no exception, with Frank Turner, White Lies, Palma Violets, Newton Faulkner, Reel Big Fish, British Sea Power, Newton Faulkner, Andrew WK the list goes on

2. Balls – for an event which is still deemed to be a an ‘indie’ event to have Dizzee Racscal as a headliner was brave, as was De La Soul, but it has gone down well with the faithful.

3. The Buzz – Y Not has a great vibe, for many it’s their only festival of the year and they make the most of it, partying all day and most of the night

4. The unexpected – last year it was a secret stage through an opening in the bar and a spaceship art installation, in our exclusive interview with Raplh Broadbent he promised more surprises this year.

5. Fancy Dress – the people of the East Midlands take this more seriously than many so expect to see the majority of punters in 90’s gear on Saturday.

6. Paint Fight – organisers were happy with their first attempt last year, this year will be bigger, better and messier.

7. The Saloon Bar – including bar stools with saddles, the only thing that’s missing is the sarsaparilla (thankfully)!

8. Food & Drink – you can expect a wide range of food, not just a case of the standard burgers, pies and unimaginative veggie options, be prepared real gastronomic delights. The bars will also be stocked with a selection of great ales & ciders reasonably priced

9. The layout – while walking around the site there is plenty of space, but when watching bands it feels intimate and generates a great atmosphere

10. Value for money – Y Not probably provides the best value for money with more than 300 artists, minimal clashes on the main two stages for just £84.50
